About a month ago I decided the girls and I need a girls weekend this fall, and we ended up booking a weekend at the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World in Florida. I told the girls we wouldn‘t be going to the parks – we‘d just do resort things, have a spa day, etc. Then after I booked the reservations I realized that the spa at the Grand Floridian is still closed. But I believe there‘s a very strong chance it will be open by the time we go.
Then, last week, I received an email from Disney that I could buy tickets to the Disney After Hours Boo Bash before the general public because we have a reservation at a Disney resort. Well, the Boo Bash was not on my radar, but I’ve heard it’s great. Let’s do it!
My window opened up yesterday, but I had a pretty busy morning and didn’t get to call until around noon. The line was busy. When I called back, I got a message that all circuits were busy. I tried again, and the line just went dead. It was like trying to call Ticketmaster in the 80s! According to my phone, I tried the number 66 times yesterday, and I never made it to the hold queue. I decided I’d try this morning right at 7 am when the line opens.
The best laid plans, right? This morning was also busy, and it was probably 9 am before I was able to try. Same scenario. Busy, or all circuits message, or just a disconnect. Another 13 times. But on the 14th time (around 6 pm) I got through! I assumed I’d be on hold for a couple hours, and my assumption was only off by about six minutes. I made dinner, ate dinner, tracked my Weight Watchers points, and did a German lesson while on hold. I was really scared I would touch the phone wrong and disconnect. But after about an hour and 54 minutes, I was speaking with an agent. We made the reservation, and now I have another Disney trip to look forward to.
Now, if I can talk the girls into dressing up like pirates . . .
