So Many Question Marks

I started this blog in November 2019. I wanted to do a travel blog, because I had a ton of travel planned for 2020. Since then, I’ve gone on three trips. Only one of those was planned when the blog started. That was the December 2019 Disney trip.

After that, the January 2020 New York City opportunity popped up, and I’m now SOOOOO glad that we took it. At the time I felt kind of crazy taking more time off work, going on a vacation when I’d just had one before the holidays. But I decided to sieze the chance for a rare adults-only trip, and we had no idea that it would be impractical to do another one for over a year.

The third trip I’ve taken since starting this blog was our summer trip to Chattanooga. That trip was a poor one-week replacement for the three-week England trip we had planned but have had to postpone because of COVID. That was a nice trip, and definitely better than nothing, but it wasn’t a trip we would have planned if we’d had the option to fly, eat in restaurants, go to museums, and such.

Looking back over this blog, I’m startled by the number of titles that end in question marks. To Cruise or Not to Cruise? (We did not cruise.). Back to Campus, Back to Normal? (Not back to normal.). Holiday Travel? (We did not travel over the holidays). Run Disney? (Remains to be seen, but probably not.) And still, so many things remain unclear. When will we be eligible to be vaccinated? Will the COVID variants keep us from traveling for years to come? When will foreign travel be possible?

Still, I‘m trying to be hopeful. I booked the September Las Vegas trip that I previously blogged about. I‘m planning to go to Canada in August to see my brother compete in his second Ironman Triathalon. And I just planned a (refundable) DisneyWorld trip for late June. Will they happen? I really hope so. I‘m trying (really, I am) not to get my hopes up too high, though. Everything is cancellable.

So I‘m hopeful that soon I‘ll be able to blog about travel again. But really, still all that we have are questions.
