This morning I planned to make a run to IKEA after dropping Madeline at dance. It‘s a big box (we‘re remodeling a closet), so Andrew was going with me. But, even though last night at bedtime there were FIVE of the item I wanted, this morning they were out of stock. Boo. I didn‘t discover the paucity until we were ready to leave, so we chose to make the most of the situation and the good weather, and we decided to take a hike after dropping M at the studio.
A quick search showed a park quite a ways away that we hadn‘t been to and looked interesting. It‘s actually nearly 40 minutes from our house, about 25 from the studio. The drive felt very long, but the weather was great when we arrived. It rained overnight but was clearing as we drove to the park. And the warm weather we had yesterday is slipping away today, so morning was the warmest it was going to be.
This is a county park, fairly new in an area of booming population and housing growth. The whole thing was probably not more than 50 acres. And the paths were muddy from the overnight rain, so we stayed on the nicely paved parts. We probably walked a mile and a half or two miles total, and we were never so far from a house or a road that we could forget where we were, but it was a great walk.
